Pactum is a Bible reading app made by Cloister LLC. This page explains, in plain language, what the app does with your information. The short version: almost everything stays on your phone, an account is optional, and we never see what you do in the apps you choose to lock.

What stays on your phone

Pactum works without an account. Your reading plan, which readings you have finished, your streak, your place in each book, and your settings are all stored on your device. The full text of the Bible is included in the app, so reading never requires a connection.

The pact and Screen Time

If you set up the pact, Pactum uses Apple's Screen Time (the Family Controls and Managed Settings frameworks) to block the apps you choose until the day's reading is done. When you pick apps, iOS gives Pactum an opaque token for each one. These tokens are stored only on your device, cannot be read by us, and do not identify which apps you chose. Pactum never sees which apps you open, how long you use them, or anything you do inside them.

If you create an account

You can optionally sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. This exists for one reason: to back up your reading progress and carry it to a new phone. When you sign in, we store:

That is the whole list. We do not store the time you spend reading, your reading position within a book, or anything about the pact. Accounts and this data are hosted with Supabase in the United States. Each account can only read and write its own data.

Purchases

Pactum Plus is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or billing details. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier for your device and, if you have an account, your account's internal ID, along with the purchase information Apple provides. Nothing else.

Reading aloud

The Listen feature uses the speech synthesis built into your iPhone. The text is spoken on the device and is not sent anywhere.

What we do not do

Deleting your data

Signing out keeps your progress on the phone and leaves the backup in place. To delete your account and everything stored with it, open Settings in Pactum, then Account, then Delete account. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. If you no longer have the app, email us at hello@pactumbibleapp.com from the address on the account and we will remove it within 30 days. Deleting the app from your phone removes everything stored locally.

Children

Pactum is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and note it in the app.
